James Nixon Daniel (1852-1897) and Octavia Lavinia Langley (1872-1957)

The first James Nixon Daniel was born on May 13, 1852, in Campbellton, FL, to Josiah Daniel and Sarah Ann Callaway. The baby of the family, he grew up in Marianna (Jackson County), FL. His father died when he was young, so he and his six older siblings helped their mother work the family farm. As a young man, Nixon worked in Marianna as a grocery merchant.
Octavia Lavinia Langley was born on July 31, 1872, in Orange Hill, FL, to Thomas Edward Langley and Lavinia Ann Norwood. She also grew in Jackson County.
James and Octavia were married on June 10, 1891, at the First Baptist Church in Chipley, FL. They settled in Chipley and had three children: James Nixon (1892), Vivian (1894), and Lucy (1897).
James died on December 16, 1897, in Chipley, FL, at the young age of 45.
After his death, Octavia remained in Chipley and later remarried to a local attorney, Daniel James Jones, in December of 1912. They, too, resided in Chipley, where Daniel became a judge.
Octavia died on October 30, 1957, in Panama City, FL, at the age of 85.
